Artist Neda Saeedi and Nina Tabassomi, curator of the exhibition WITCHES, will discuss how the ideological and economic infrastructures underlying the historical witch hunt continue to reverberate within our present. In the exhibition, Saeedi presents the two masters of ceremonies of the historical witch-hunts in two different installations: the church and burgeoning capitalism. In her new commission Ezekiel dreams beyond repair<\/em>, the church and its vision of a single origin and center of life and justice is mixed with contemporary practices of European world politics. What is excluded from these salvation scenarios? What is injured and what must be exploited or destroyed so that their throne can rise? The vision of institutionalized heroism collapses; what results is an urgent call for course correction. This is also true for Saeedi\u2019s second multimedia installation, which stages the other pillar of historical witch persecution\u2014the establishment of capitalism demonstrated on a case from the more recent past: the expropriation of land, the forced settlement of a nomadic tribe and the creation of a new labor force.<\/p>\n
