Guggenheim Museum, New York <strong><br \/>\n<\/strong>(lecture in English)<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Politics of Illegibility<\/strong><br \/>\nexamines a selection of emerging artists whose practices explore race in the United States through diverse modes of text-based abstraction. For these artists interventions in language and syntax enable a deconstruction of convention, truth, and history, where fragments take the place of the whole and the unstable condition of knowledge is unmasked. For some, a break with representation involves an element of resistance, refusal, erasure or complete negation.
